New Sailors and Members

If you don't sail, the club offer an exceptional number of ways of teaching and developing your sailing at our own RYA-recognised sailing school. You don't have to be a member to try out sailing.

We have friendly fleets with fleet captains who will give you introductions to members and help you to get started.

As a member, you can also join in our Club Pro activities which is an excellent way to meet new friends.

If you don't have a boat, you can hire one and there are plenty of crewing opportunities (see our Crews and Helms Facebook site.)

We have a superb clubhouse to meet up, over a drink or a bite to eat.

Families and Children

We have special family and junior membership options with reduced rates for an adult and partner plus unlimited children (under 18 or still in full time education).

We have a special Youth and Junior Section lots of details here and our Sailing School caters for developing the talents of junior and adults.

We have various family social activities including an Easter Camp" (you don't have to camp!) for families with daily activities.

The Sailing School offers special children's summer holiday courses and our regular Cygnets" on Friday evenings.

Many of our fleets are family friendly.

We offer guided sessions run by a senior instructor that will also appeal to families for example, our social sailing sessions.

Great fun for children and parents!

Young Adults

We have reduced membership fees for students and younger adults and you can spread the cost of a subscription by monthly standing order.

If you don't have your own boat, then you can pay and play" by hiring a boat from as little as £5 for two hours.

We have a great social and a racing scene for youth and younger sailors - including team racing - with regular weekly activities.

Competitive Racers

There are plenty of racing activities at Rutland.

The club racing programme includes:

· Sunday Racing all year

· Thursday evening racing when it's light enough

· Special events including club championships, and

· Racing organised by fleets

We have more open meetings than most other clubs (there's plenty of water) and members can join these for free or at reduced rates.

Seniors

You'll find many friendly faces at Rutland in all our fleets. As well as competitive senior sailors in dinghies, many of our senior sailors are not so keen on swimming and have a cruiser or day boat the cruiser fleet caters well for their needs.

If you're new or thinking of returning to sailing, then our own sailing school, hires boats, and runs courses for all ages and abilities.

As well as weekends there are activities during the week for example, our senior sailing on Fridays (normally with a break for a sandwich lunch).

And of course, if you want activities for the grandchildren, there's plenty going on for them too.

Sailors with Disabilities

Rutland Sailability is a corporate member of the Sailing Club and has over 25 years of experience of facilitating safe sailing for people with disabilities in the delightful setting of Rutland Water. On offer is a range of training, sailing for fun, & racing, for those with every level of sailing skill - beginners to elite.

The entire clubhouse, changing facilities and waterfront are wheelchair accessible and there is support from a great team of friendly, experienced volunteers.

A wide range of specially adapted boats are available with training available for absolute beginners through to our Paralympic hopefuls!
